Description

Prerequisites

Basic understanding of production management and "batch processing" scheduling.
Knowledge of current production job processing flow in the local environment where Tivoli Workload Scheduler will be implemented.
Knowledge of file navigation, file editing, and command prompt actions for the operating system to be used (Unix or NT).

Objectives

o Define TWS terminology
o Filter displayed Database and Plan information using list groups and list properties
o List, describe, and specify properties and external dependencies for Jobs and Job Streams
o Navigate and utilize the TWS Job Scheduling Console (JSC) interface
o Change TWS workstation properties, execute workstation processes, and explain the implications
o Monitor Job Stream instances, Job instances and objects on the current Plan list using the JSC
o Discover and overcome problems with Job Stream execution
o View and print Job Stream documentation, Job instance output and TWS standard reports
o Stop and start TWS processes, link and unlink workstations
o Configure TWS Job automated recovery options
o Construct a Processing Flow Diagram and general Job Stream processing Plan
o Understand how to optimize TWS Job Streams and to make them system-independent
