Description

Learn how to install, deploy and perform the day to day administrative tasks for IBM WebSphere Portal Version 5.0 (V5). Develop the necessary skills for an administrator, architect, or developer to administer WebSphere Portal. Portal administrators learn how to perform the installation of the base IBM Portal Server product, portlet deployment, configuring the portal, introducing authentication and authorization, creating and maintaining user and group profiling, portal page and document management, and many other administrative tasks. Develop the necessary skills for an administrator, architect, or developer to learn to successfully deploy WebSphere Portal. This course does not cover programming of portlets. These skills can be obtained by attending the appropriate WebSphere Portal developer courses.

Audience

This is an intermediate course for IBM clients, independent software vendors, system integrators, and IBM technical staff members, including administrators, architects, and developers who implement portal solutions built on the IBM WebSphere Portal platform.

Prerequisites

You should have a through understanding of WebSphere Portal fundamentals. This is a firm prerequisite that should not be skipped.You should also have an understanding of basic Internet concepts, experience using a Web browser, administration skills for a Web server (such as IBM Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) Server or Apache), basic operational skills for the Windows 2000 operating system (course lab utilization only), and basic WebSphere Application Server V5 administration.
