Description

This course will cover Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) implementation on the AS/400 using a mixture of lectures and hands-on labs. The course material addresses accessing the Internet as well as private intranets. A general knowledge of TCP/IP architecture is required for successful completion of the course.

Audience

Individuals who will be implementing and/or supporting the implementation of TCP/IP on the AS/400.

Prerequisites

o Basic AS/400 skills including knowledge of the IFS
o Basic Windows 95/98 skills
o General knowledge of TCP/IP concepts and terminology
o Conceptual knowledge of the Internet
The IBM Education and Training course 'Communications Fundamentals and the AS/400' (C/C OL70) will satisfy these objectives.

Objectives

Upon completion of this course the successful student
will be able to:
o Discuss the origins, objectives, and architecture of the TCP/IP Communication Protocols
o Illustrate a simple TCP/IP Network and label it's major components
o Install, maintain, and configure TCP/IP on the AS/400
o Describe, install, tailor, monitor, and locate applicable IBM technical material for TCP/IP Servers on the AS/400.
o Relate the importance of, and the elements of an Internet Access Security Policy
o Describe the components of AS/400 TCP/IP that can affect serving performance
o Describe the National Language Support capabilities of AS/400 TCP/IP
