Objectives |
After completing this course, a student should be able to do the
following:
- Code Data Description Specifications (DDS) for physical and logical files.
- Use PDM and SEU to enter DDS specifications for and create physical and logical files.
- Use Interactive SQL and Operations Navigator to create collections, tables, views and indexes.
- Write a basic Control Language (CL) program to run application programs.
- Use Screen Design Aid (SDA) to create, modify and test menus and display files.
- Use Data File Utility (DFU) to inquire into and update data files.
- Use Query/400 and Query Manager to produce reports against the database they have created.
- Use PDM and SEU to enter and compile a COBOL or RPG program.
- Create a user profile, library, output queue and job description.
- Describe the basic concepts of the following AS/400 functions:
- Work Management
- Security
- Save and Restore
- Availability and Recovery Features
- Device files and file overrides
- Use the Copy File (CPYF) command to copy database records.
