Description |
This course is designed to equip students to implement DB2 OLAP Server. On completing the course, students should have the skills required to define their own data structure into a multidimensional outline, populate the outline with data and use the supplied spreadsheet interface and reporting tool to formulate queries and present results.
Students should also know how to install the product and understand in overview how the product is implemented within the relational database. |
Audience |
Technical specialists, including power users, developers, technical support personnel, database administrators, consultants and product specialists. |
Prerequisites |
o Familiarity with PC interface, including Windows Explorer, Command Prompt and Notepad Editor
o Basic familiarity with PC applications, such as spreadsheets
o Basic knowledge of relational concepts (tables, views, joins and simple SQL) |
Objectives |
At the end of the course, students should be able to:
o Describe terms used in OLAP
o Describe the development of a multi-dimensional outline
o Define outline dimensions using the administrator interface and SQL data
o Populate the outline using SQL data and rules files
o Use a simple CALC script and describe the impact of using dynamic calculations
o Explain, in overview, the DB2 elements of the product and the implications of distributed OLAP databases
o Describe and discuss product installation
o Use the product, with sample data, to implement typical business queries |
