Description |
This course is designed to provide students with advanced skills in administering TCP/IP on AIX Version 4, following on from the material presented in AU05 (AIX Version 4 TCP/IP Communications). The topics presented include dynamic routing, electronic mail protocols and standards, and the AIX e-mail system. There is also advanced material on the Domain Name System, NFS and NIS. Troubleshooting in TCP/IP networks with AIX systems is also covered in depth. The course provides hands-on lab experience in all of these areas as well |
Objectives |
After completing this course, students should be able to:
o Explain the major dynamic routing protocols.
o Administer dynamic routing protocols on AIX systems.
o Set up a caching-only domain name server, and also a name server that uses a forwarder. They should be able to determine which is most suitable for a particular situation.
o Delegate a sub-domain from one name server to another.
o Administer a distributed AIX environment in which the NFS Automounter and NIS are used to centralize user IDs,
passwords, groups and home directories while allowing users to login to any one of several replicated systems.
o Administer Secure NFS.
o Explain the major electronic mail protocols and standards, including SMTP, POP and MIME, and how they are used to transport mail in the Internet.
o Administer the SENDMAIL daemon to provide mail services for users of an AIX system.
Set up the DNS Mail Exchange records necessary to support electronic mail relaying and gatewaying.
o Perform troubleshooting in a TCP/IP network |
